Vastu, Vastu Shastra or Vaastu Vidya is a part of Sthapatya Veda which is Upveda or a branch of Atharva Veda.
The word Vastu or Vaastu means the site of a house, or of a building, or project, usually proposed for construction.
Vastu is the science of Vedic Architecture. It elaborates the principles of constructing houses, marketing complexes, educational institutions which have come from the experience and findings of sages and masters.
These principles are given in some many old classics. To name a few:

  • Vastu Ratnakara
  • Matsya Purana
  • Skanda Purana
  • Agni Purana
  • Vayu Purana
  • Garuda Purana
