How to Stop Negative Thinking and Stay Positive

If you are amongst those people who let their mind and thoughts wander, you already know that it will automatically have you ‘thinking‘ without control. 
In the middle of the night you lose sleep as your mind is caught in this or that thought. You could be anxious about exams, businesses, relationships and many other challenges. You could be losing money in a venture, or a deal, or not getting the advantages and accalades you deserve. You could fail in your relationship with your partner or the new person you’ve just met. Your children could be getting sick, not passing their exams or bombing out in sport. Your cold could be turning into flu or pneumonia or cancer, or…. whatever it is, your mind will try to convince you that all hell will break lose if you let it wander uncontrollably. 
I encourage you to examine your conducting your mind like this. 
Gardeners know what happens if they do not weed their gardens. Weeds and plants grow and take over their once beautiful garden. Don't we know this from our Touch-the-Earth gardening days at Nirvana!  In spite of regular weeding, with the fertile ground and optimum climatic conditions, weeds take over. It’s the same with your mind. If you don’t weed out your thoughts and learn to control your negative ones, they will take over.
The skill lies in how to monitor your thoughts and stop them ruining your life. Many people wonder if it’s possible. Let me assure you it is. However, it's like going to school and learning to read and write. You just have to take the time to practise mastering this skill. 
The majority of the time, we have only one thought occurring. If your allow your thoughts to wander, they’re likely to be negative until you learn to control them, 
Thus, the first skill lies in taking control of your mind when it is negative.  For instance, read something positive, such as an inspirational book that will educate you about personal awareness and development. You can refer to some of the books I have written, such as: • Believe in Yourself  • Intimacy, Love and Transformation • Reflections of a Yogi • Your Future is in Your Hands. There are enormous benefits in controlling your negative thoughts.

I know it works because do it for myself. The only thing it takes from you is the time, consistent and persistent effort and the motivation to learn to control your mind and become a master of your own life. It doesn’t happen overnight but it does happen. You can learn how to stop your negative thoughts and think positively. Give it a try!
