Certificate IV Yoga Education

Cert IV in Yoga Education is the first course in our core program. It will inspire you through a creative engagement with Yoga from the ground up. It presents ways in which yoga can be applied to the complexity of everyday living and improve the quality of your daily life.

Certificate IV in Yoga Education (course code: 30847) is a government accredited, austudy approved course, open to anyone who is interested in deepening their understanding of yoga, including yoga teachers, and also those who might want to teach yoga.

Originally, yoga was a discipline practised to facilitate the stillness in mind in order to emancipate one’s inherent wisdom. Yoga today is also a system for wholistic health, balance and connectedness. With its practices you learn how to clear your mind of its clutter, find peace within, and restore the health of your body. Even if you have absolutely no past experience of yoga, you are able to apply. You will notice dramatic results from your very first class as you work with yourself (not against yourself), to tap into the highest level of energy, vitality and freedom from within. It’s transformational.

Using use the classical Vedic modalities: asana (yoga postures), nidra (relaxation), meditation and pranayama (breath work), concentration, Ayurvedic health, Eastern philosophy and psychology, the program outcomes include a greater sense of awareness of yourself, learning to accept challenges as they occur in life, and employing healthy ways to cope. You will enjoy an improved sense of health and wellbeing for your entire being - body, mind and spirit, and an increased sense of connectedness. Students train in overcoming many obstacles on the path and develop friendliness towards themself and others. By deepening your experience and understanding of yourself, through the depth of yoga, you more fully become you you already are.

Certificate IV in Yoga Education represents the foundation course in Shanti Yoga, meticulously designed and taught by Shantiji and Shanti Yoga teachers. It does not include technical instruction about how to teach an asana class, but rather, guides you to become a student of yourself, by mastery of the yogic material conceptually. Suitable for any style of yoga, it is yoga for life, and presents the grounded, humble and gentle foundation of a leader’s journey. However, should you want to continue to become a yoga teacher, and in order to become an accredited Shanti Yoga teacher, you must demonstrate advanced, technical training teacher skills. For aspiring yoga teachers, The Shanti Yoga Health Institute offers the follow up, in-depth training in these skills at our Diploma in Yoga teaching courses.
