Energy, meaning and purpose

The world seems to be spinning ever faster toward disaster through climate change, violence, warfare, disease, famine and financial meltdown. We could be forgiven for reacting with denial, despair or despondency as some people are. Yet, simultaneously, we must rise up to resist the forces causing these crises and build a world that works sustainably for all of life. We're not alone in all of this. Tens of millions of people in millions of organisations around the world, are recognising that our current ways are dysfunctional and are seeking sustainable, peaceful and just alternatives, standing up for their visions. In many cases, this means that we must take a stand against peer pressure, corporations or even governments when they seek to perpetuate a worldview that needs changing.

Many people have been astonished by the sudden crumbling of institutions, by extraordinary changes in people's thoughts, by unexpected eruptions of rebellion against tyrannies and by the quick collapse of systems of power that seemed invincible. The old dream is dying. Its demise becomes inevitable as we discover the devastation we’ve caused to our own planetary home, as we count the rising cost of our inhumanity towards each other and as we see how our current way of living fails to deliver lasting happiness. All of these are the inevitable conclusions of an old dream rooted in acquisition, consumption and putting personal gain above communal good. However, our human species is not flawed but has simply been entranced by a modern world of materialism and has been deeply asleep. We're creating a great deal of suffering by ignoring what's truly going on. However, there are things we can do, personally and as a community, to shape the direction in which our society is going. This solution lies in bringing our wisdom into the circle to discover how the possibilities outweigh the problems.
A new vision is emerging. It is life-enhancing, earth-honouring, community based and collaborative. Rather than 'Supersize me now', it's for all of us, now and for the future, together and for our grand-children. Through dynamic, personal development, group interaction and appropriate, wise information, we can be inspired to reconnect with our deep concern for our world and be empowered to make a difference. When we realise that all of this crisis is humankind's own making, then we have the opportunity to turn it around. Our fate is not already written. The future does not need to be an extension of the present - history tells us this. What leaps out from the history of the past hundred years is its utter unpredictability. There have been countless times when whole new social orders were brought forth in completely unexpected, unpredictable and positive ways.

To reclaim our future we can explore four questions:
Where am I?
– examining our state of environmental, social and personal well-being
How did I get here?
– tracing the root causes that lead to our current imbalances
What’s possible for the future?
– discovering new ways of relating with ourselves, each other, the Earth and looking at change. Awakening the dreamer lies in changing the dream.
Where do I go from here?
– considering the stand we want to take in the world and our personal and collective impact.

When a caterpillar reaches a certain point in its own evolution, it becomes over-consumptive, a voracious eater and it eats everything in sight.

At that same time, in the molecular structure of the caterpillar, the 'imaginal cells' become active. While all this gorging is going on, those imaginal cells wake up and they look for each other inside of the caterpillar’s body. When enough of them connect (they don't need to be in the majority) they become the genetic directors of the future of the caterpillar. At that point, the other cells begin to putrefy and become what’s known as the nutritive soup—out of which the imaginal cells create the absolute unpredictable miracle of the butterfly.
What’s possible is that we're the imaginal cells of the planet right now. You are the message. Embrace the work for human rights, for the protection of our environment and animals, for access to education, healthcare, housing and even food and water. In another language these are: environmental sustainability, spiritual fulfillment and social justice or energy, meaning and purpose. Things that emerge are not apparent when you start something. They gradually appear over time, like a sculpture from a block of marble.

There are numerous, viable solutions addressing key elements in virtually every one of these issues and momentum is growing in the work to link these into a comprehensive new approach. There is abundant evidence that something new is emerging already, consistent with our vision for a sustainable, peaceful and just human presence. Environmental sustainability, social justice and spiritual fulfillment and the three facets of a new perspective for humanity and planet Earth.
Things are changing. Solutions cxist. Choicest blessings that you will have the courage to collaborate with the finest experts and indigenous laypeople around the globe in discovering new opportunities to make a real difference while working on creative, innovative, remarkable solutions.
If you are ready to be disturbed, inspired and moved to action, be introduced to a thriving, committed community, then join us in exploring the most critical concerns of our times.
