If you’re hungry for what lies beyond
the observer and the observed,
beyond bhakti and shakti
and want to wake up in the non-dual reality…
If you are looking for enlightenment
and for someone who can directly transmit it,
when the teaching is no different
from the depth of silence being radiated
and you experience the possibility of your mind effortlessly stopping
then you know, without a trace of doubt
that you are looking at your own Self,
there is no question that you have met your teacher.
Look no further.

You have met your teacher.
As we enter into our lives more consciously, many things blossom karmically for us. Even the aggression of the energy of our environment continues to grow in intensity. It would appear as if nature is attempting to purify the earth and all beings upon it. Unless we empty ourselves of everyday concerns and self-centeredness, no amount of practice or training will be sufficient to merge with the times we are now living in. The issues of global warming and natural disasters, the general lack of clarity and awareness of the world's population, a worldwide instability in the financial markets and the population of people who are, for the most part, asleep at the helm, are all too apparent. The energy of nature and the universe is pushing each of us towards our awakening, yet when we resist this natural power of evolution, the result is only one of greater difficulty. Not being fully awake, we act out of our ego fixation and subtly create suffering in our own lives and in the lives of others. What is lacking is our own development. Knowing theoretically, is not knowing directly. If you think you are an enlightened soul yet still have to contend with the same mind, egocentric suffering continues.
What can you do as an antidote for obstacles?
Engage in the practices yourself.
In these times it is especially important to live intentionally and take responsibility for your own spiritual evolution. The rest of nature evolves at the dictates of nature's law and order, yet it is natural for human beings to become free but this requires intentional practice with a definite purpose.
Firstly, it is important to become really clear about what exactly that purpose is and then place it at the forefront of your everyday life.
The systematised body of knowledge that is Yoga, represents the world’s oldest method for improving your health and well-being and being the change in the world that you want to see.
Shanti Yoga is an innovative system of gentle, traditional yoga practices for health, relaxation, rejuvenation and evolution. Shanti yoga classes blend breathing, visualisation and simple movements that energise and harmonise your entire being. Because of the unique style of teaching, beginners re able to slot straight into any class and benefit greatly from it.
The Sacred Path of Yoga Teaching offers further teaching and practices that extend beyond the basic yoga training. These practices are based on a societal vision and aspiration to help the world and cultivate human dignity, leadership and natural gifts that enable a teacher to widen their sphere of compassionate and practical influence.
Shanti Gowans has been offering yoga and meditation classes as well as ayurveda health principles and its practices ever since she came to Australia from India, in 1972. She has never veered off track and has been true to her vision, delivering thirty-eight years of the highest level of inspiration and training in these fields. Shantiji offers an open invitation to all beloved yoga friends, students of yoga and ayurvedic health, enlightenment and meditation and colleagues who wish to participate in their destiny. (82)
Whilst there are many avenues for entering the sacred path or the way of yoga, essentially they all are of two kinds: entering through principle and entering through practice. We have been pioneers in educational strategies and stalwarts in both of these areas as well as in the arena of yoga health education and treatments. It has long been our goal to create an environment for this kind of healing and personal transformation. Shantiji has authored a series of text books for the Sacred Path of Yoga and its applied teaching with commentaries together with how to practice and deliver them within our modern times.
Shanti yoga is a spiritual discipline that cultivates the body and mind simultaneously. It guides the flow of internal energy (prana and kundalini) with techniques which conserve, gather, cultivate, nourish and transform energies that are the source for a healthy body and a clear mind.
In order to ensure the highest level of teaching, Shanti yoga teacher training emphasises the spiritual as well as the physical aspects of yoga and is delivered at the levels of Certificate IV in Yoga Education, Diploma in Yoga Teaching and Advanced Diploma in Yoga Teaching. It provides inspiration, instructions, guidance and covers practical requirements. It is open to all who approach it with a sincere and humble attitude. Students participate in meditation, reading, discussions and other activities designed to help the student move towards an integrated understanding of yoga. The training goes into the fundamentals, intermediate and advanced depth at each level. Each student is required to pass all aspects of one level before participating in the next.
We hope that more and more people, like you, will take it upon themselves to go beyond the mere study of technique and seek the deeper meaning and potential behind this incredible training in peace. New and experienced practitioners are welcome to attend our training. If you are commuting from out of town or interstate, let us know and we will try to connect you with local students who may be able to accommodate you.
We offer you an open invitation to participate in your own destiny and the destiny of the world. In this spirit I celebrate each of you who attend Shanti Yoga as often as is possible for you. Please help us spread the word!
Thank you and I hope to see you in class.
