SHANTIJI'S BLESSING

Listen to your inner wisdom.
Let it guide you.
It will never lead you astray.
You walk with endless blessings,
today, and every day.
May the blessings of this day
radiate from your being,
be helpful through your mind,
and shine through your heart.
Be blessed, always.

EXCEPTIONAL WELLBEING
AYURVEDIC SEASONAL CUSTOMISED CLEANSE

Health is the state of an harmonious chemical balance within a living organism. It arises from dharma - i.e. the observation of natural laws.

Good health is characterised by having abundant energy, no fatigue, having a good appetite, going to sleep and waking up easily, being pain-free, having a good memory, a good sense of humour, precision in thought and action, and being holistic, honest, humble, grateful, and loving.

Just as we understand that it is necessary to spring clean our homes, and tune up a car’s engine regularly to keep it running smoothly, your body also needs regular cleansing and rejuvenation to keep it healthy and disease-free.

The body has its own natural, detoxifying processes. However, the world most of us live in today is stressful and toxic. The introduction of artificial light, global foods, transportation, and busy schedules, makes it easy to get out of sync with nature’s rhythms and cycles, creating an overload on all systems of the body, thereby causing the mind-body to inevitably break down.

Ayurveda recommends that we cleanse our bodies at the change of the seasons, when the outer environment changes, to remove accumulated doshic imbalances, in order to re-set our internal environment.

The art of Ayurvedic cleansing, known as Panchakarma, has been practiced for thousands of years, and is famous for its ancient, proven processes of removing impurities, balancing the tissues, and restoring harmony and health to all levels of one’s being.

Nirvana’s Exceptional Wellbeing 10-day retreat is a seasonal group cleanse that is offered three times a year, during the Australian spring (September), summer (January), and winter (July).

This Ayurvedic cleanse is nourishing, gentle, and comforting. It is not about fasting, gimmicky fad diets, body shaming, or food hatred. During this detox, you are permitted to eat as much as you want, and we provide healthy meals that are as delicious as they are sustaining.

The effects of cleansing often last well beyond the ten-day cleanse itself. Most retreatants maintain a newfound balance for years, through permanent, positive changes that they have learnt at retreat, and have applied to their diet and lifestyle.

WHAT TO EXPECT
An Ayurvedic cleanse consists of 3 phases, namely,
- the preparatory or allied procedures, purva-karma. The pre-cleanse consists of oleation and lubrication
- the main treatments, panchakarma, which is the primary cleanse, and
- the post-cleanse, paschat-karma.

THE PRE-CLEANSE
The first phase of the cleanse comprises essential preliminary procedures to prepare the body to assist it in unloading stored toxins from it. To help clarify your needs, goals, and direction, you will be given instructions on eliminating heavy, toxic, and processed food from your diet, replacing it with healing food. You will also be required to start building a healthy daily routine that includes oleation and lubrication (snehana) and therapeutic heat (swedana), that will support you throughout the remaining 10 days of your cleanse. These practices are in your best interests as they will help you achieve better results, and can be started at home, prior to you arriving at retreat.

THE PRIMARY CLEANSE
Over the 7 day period of the primary cleanse, you will undergo an initial Ayurvedic Consultation where your Ayurvedic constitution and current imbalances will be assessed to help tailor your customised cleanse, in order to best support your current needs and goals. Your follow-up consultation will further inform and provide you with suggestions, so that you can follow up with a post-cleanse plan at home to maintain the benefits of your cleanse.

During the retreat, you will undergo a deep transformation as you eliminate old, unwanted mental, physical, and emotional waste. Your internal organs will purge themselves of toxins and will remove excessive doshic imbalances from your system, thereby balancing your metabolism and healing your digestive fire. You will receive ongoing support during your cleanse at Nirvana.

The extensive body of Hindu literature pertaining to medicine and health is known as Ayurveda. You will be educated about this vast and perennial science for longevity with information collected over the millennia by both scientists and sages. Through tutorials, workshops, and ‘living Ayurveda and Yoga’, you will learn how to live a happy, healthy life, how to cook scrumptious and healthy Ayurvedic meals, and partake in mindfulness practices that include gentle, healing yoga, meditation, pranayama (breathwork), and mindful art. You will navigate this entire process whilst benefiting from the delicious meals, cleansing medicines, and healing from being surrounded by nature.

THE POST-CLEANSE
After the main cleanse, your focus will be on balancing your nervous system and digestive fire, and rejuvenating your body’s tissues. You will follow a specific protocol to gradually return to the pre-cleanse diet, adding wholesome foods and beneficial herbs and spices to help increase your strength and enhance your immune system.

It is recommended that you follow up with further consultations to assess your improvements and to help you come up with an ongoing trajectory for your wellbeing.

Our Timetable

THE HEALING APPROACH OF SHANTI YOGA

The purpose of the curated collection from the ShantiYoga practice of asana is to harmonise the flow of vital energy (prana), in the body.

Prana is the subjectively experienced lifeforce of the body which is manipulated, directed, and influenced by Shanti Yoga asana practice.

The body consists of numerous channels. Everyone is a channel. You are a channel, even if you do not realise it. Channeling the creative presence within and around all of us is everyone's natural ability.

Channeling is tapping into the cosmic presence, through the quantum field, and welcoming the energetic connection of guidance through the authentic self.

The practice of directing prana within an asana converts the psycho-spiritual energy into psycho-physical harmony. This explains why there is no arbitrary definition of a 'perfect' pose. All poses need adaptation. Every hand and foot position, every mudra and gesture helps or inhibits the ability to stress the target areas in the body.

The outcome of this is experienced as:
- an easeful body, one with which you are more supple and comfortable.
- emotional contentment, as quietude descends upon the mind, at last,
- mental calmness…peacefulness within your own space.
- moving out of chaos into self-empowerment.

Sangha, community, is an integral part of creating an inclusive environment. Here, we create unity through honouring our diversity.

Darshan provides an environment to awaken together and see what follows - not to manipulate one another into this action or that. We do so by recognising the integrity of one another’s experiences, ‘What have you been through? What did it look like to you?’ We share ideas, interests, passions, concerns, and private experiences. Action often grows out of telling one another our stories. What’s been dealt with in solitude, becomes the basis for solidarity. Parallels of private experiences become the groups for a common initiative.

DANCE THE WORLD

Thank you for being part of our incredible community.

Thank you for being a person who is committed to growing and for being willing to do what it takes to deliberately recreate your life authentically. Whilst most people talk about doing what it takes, you actually do it, and I'm proud of you for that! Yes, we’ve all been inside our houses for a long time at this point… too long ;-( But if being cooped up has you feeling lazy, unmotivated, or unproductive, then I’ve got some really good news for you. I’m going to help you out. Happiness is not about regretting what you lack, but a celebration of what you have.

To celebrate yourself, I would like to initiate something to help us reconnect with the joy and laughter that we have always known in the sangha (community)…that something extra that makes us feel awesome… because, well… life happens.

Dance the World. Here’s the plan. We are an international community. Each week 3 students from different parts of the world will share their dance music and culture by teaching a routine consisting of about 4 steps from their part of the world and provide some rudimentary information/education about their dance culture. We envisage each student will be allocated 20 minutes, making for 3 dance styles in an hour’s session. Options we have thought about include Bollywood, Salsa, Tango, hip hop, ballet, jazz ballet, flamenco, tap, Bharat Natyam, Egyptian, Belly dancing, Irish jigs, Maypole, Classical Ballet, Fold dancing - Italian, Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, Hungarian, Austrian, Croatian, Persian, Middle Eastern, Greek …

We will "dance as if no one is watching" because it’s not about being perfect, an expert, co-ordinated, or even skilled. While we all want to peak at the top of the mountain, we know that so much happiness and growth occurs while we are climbing it.

Share the love. Please start planning now… especially if you don’t have a teaching or dance background. 4 steps… a small routine, with music that can be sourced from Spotify or similar.
