And just like that, we’re saying goodbye to September and getting ready to welcome October. We’ve got some great events coming up and would love to share them with you.

COMING UP

Graduation Lunch, Sunday 3rd October 12 noon - 2:30pm
The first one starts this Sunday. We come together, a gathering of wellwishers and friends, new and old, for rejuvenating connection with each other and nature. Sitting on the deck at our beautiful retreat sanctuary, we celebrate graduating students and their teachers, and congratulate them on the milestone they have accomplished, which is a wonderful reflection of their inner strength and character. This is an informal event, where everyone brings a plate of vegetarian food to share (no alcohol, please). When the stomach is full, the heart is glad. Your partners and family are most welcome, and it is totally free. Bookings essential. Please RSVP to admin.

Public Holiday, Monday 4th October
Monday, the 4th of October is a public holiday in Queensland, for the Queen’s Birthday. The centre will be closed.

The Yoga Sutras. 10 weeks. Tuesday 5th October 2-3pm
Shantiji will deliver the Truth about Yoga, from the classical writings of Patanjali. This event is live and in person. It will offer you everything you need to know about the deeper and meaningful aspects of Yoga and its application to the challenges we face in everyday living. I hope you have the opportunity to join us on the following Tuesday afternoon(+s), for 10 weeks, from 2-3pm.

Silent meditation retreat. Inclusive of single room accommodation with shared facilities, delicious Ayurvedic vegetarian meals, program at Nirvana Wellness Retreat and Healing Sanctuary. $795. Bookings essential.

Touch the Earth. Saturday 9th October
Arrive 8:30am, and enjoy a cup of tulsi (holy basil) tea.

Tulsi opens the heart and mind, bestowing the energy of love and devotion. It strengthens faith, compassion, and clarity, clears the aura, and strengthens the immune system. It is an effective diaphoretic and febrifuge in most colds, cases of flu, and lung problems. It removes excess Kapha from the lungs and nasal passages, increases prana, and promotes sensory acuity. It also removes high Vata from the colon, improves absorption, and strengthens the nerve tissue, and increases memory. Fresh juice from the Tulsi leaf is used externally for fungal infections on the skin.

Please bring your own gardening gloves ($6 for 2 pairs at KMart) and gardening tools and wear appropriate footwear. Lunch will be served at 12:30pm.

Please bring a change of clothes, your towel, and yoga mat if you are intending to participate in Yoga Nidra.

Awaken to Self-Healing. Thursday 14 October & Tuesday 19 October at 6:30pm
Health information is a complex world to navigate, but one brimming with potential. For health-conscious people who are struggling with wellbeing-related issues, Shantiji will shed some light on Yoga and Ayurvedic wellbeing, and how a detox program can work naturally, without starving and depriving yourself. Exposure to harmful chemicals which can be found in our food supply, the air we breathe, cosmetics, household cleaners, etc. build up in our bodies as toxins. Endo-toxicity is a real thing, and it can happen to anybody. Via the blood, liver, bowel, urinary system, lungs, skin, and heart, and mind, your body is well equipped to eliminate harmful toxins. And you can play your part in enhancing your body’s detoxification mechanisms. Your body is precious. It is your vehicle for awakening. Treat it with care. Knowledge is power. Progress made on the premise of this perennial knowledge acquired can help empower you. It might even save your life.

It will be followed up with the opportunity to attend a fully supervised, residential Sustainable Wellbeing program, 5-14 November. Sanskrit is a scientific and systematic language. Come and learn 12 vowel sounds and 34 consonants, and their written Devanagari script.

The forest is waiting for you to meet yourself there. Lunch will be at 12:30pm. Please bring a change of clothes, your towel, and a yoga mat if you are intending to participate in Yoga Nidra.
