COMMUNITY

Sangha, is the Sanskrit word that describes our community of togetherness, that is inclusive. It encompasses you and everyone around you. It’s all of us. Sangha transcends its use as a pronoun to describe a perspective on life and community. A mindset of togetherness is woven throughout the Shanti Yoga family that recognises how intimately we are connected and how interdependent we are on one another for creating sustainable, resilient and thriving lives.

Sangha refers to three or more people (more than just us), and is different from your clique. It encourages us to broaden our definition of ‘we’ to include more of those around us and expand our understanding of who we are.

Faced with constant demands and stress in the twenty-first century result-driven, perpetually changing environment, we can forget that our wellbeing needs continuous attention, care, love and affection. Additionally, your wellbeing is also influenced by your surroundings, relationships and society.

YOUR BODY

So many of us have not learnt to tune in to our bodies, as a first step, when the body shows signs of disease. The human body is truly a marvel, an incredibly complex design performing an amazing array of functions every day. Homeostasis is the process by which the body actively maintains stable conditions in order to survive. If we get sick, the body, in its wisdom, will always try to maintain homeostasis. This is the “wisdom” of the body, and the body will let us know what it needs. When we connect with that wisdom, we find healing and wholeness and can live an empowered life.

Be good to yourself. Your body is your home. If you don’t take care of your body, where will you live? Connect to the wisdom of your body and learn simple strategies to help you become better connected with the wisdom of life.

MENTAL HEALTH

The mind has two domains it can operate in your inner and outer world/life.
The inner domain is where your life is built and where you accumulate the energy to rise above your lower self to give your life meaning and purpose.
The outer domain is where we spend our energy, and unfortunately in today’s world this domain is so often saturated with negativity, projections, untruths, fear and manipulation.
You become what you feed your mind. Be focused.
You have the ultimate power.
Your message can be the key to unleashing your life, and the lives of others.

The riskiest thing is to take no risks.

However, as much as we may want to control all aspects of our lives, there are plenty of things that are completely out of our control. Relinquishing the reins of control is easier said than done. Recognising what you can and can’t control helps combat stress and provides a sense of purpose. If something is in your control, you can work at maintaining, fixing, or improving that aspect. Knowing what’s in your control also improves your decisiveness. That is, you can make decisions quickly and effectively because you’re better able to prioritise the things you can actually do something about.

If it’s out of your control, work hard to move past it. To welcome change and embrace the unknown, you need to be more flexible and adapt.

Celebrate diversity.
Learn and grow from it.

ABOUT US

Nirvana Wellbeing Retreat is a holistic retreat centre based in a peaceful mountain range just behind the beaches of Surfers Paradise,Z in S.E. Queensland. It is a scenic 60 min drive away from Coolangatta Airport, away from the hustle and bustle of the Gold Coast.

Nirvana Wellbeing Retreat provides the result of equilibrium, combining and serving the wisdom traditions of wellness, alternative medicine, plant based food and nutrition, nature and the ecology, with creative thoughts, commitment and yoga-meditation-Ayurvedic support.

Accommodation is in single and twin shared rooms, with wash basins in all bedrooms. Here, with Nirvana’s unpretentious comfort, you are at home away from home.

Here you will find friends who become family.

To achieve balance at every stage in your life, balancing your spiritual, physical, emotional and intellectual self, slow down, sit back, take a break, and spend time with your inner self before you head back to the ever-changing ever-demanding world.

SATTVIC LIFE

We practice the sattvic way of living, including fresh and local produce, which is either grown on our property or procured from small farmers, with minimal processing, to retain the nutrients and taste of ingredients.

KITCHEN

Our kitchen is powered with seasonal vegetables and fruits, homegrown herbs, spices, homemade condiments, and lots of love. We follow traditional recipes and cooking methods. Nirvana is proud to be on a journey to becoming a ‘zero wastage’ and ‘zero commercial food’ kitchen. Our kitchen is run by an enthusiastic Ayurvedic practitioner and loving volunteers who help. We take pride in retaining but re-inventing traditional dishes across borders and continents. Our morning brew, made from fresh Tulsi, Pineapple sage, mint and lemongrass is delightful, and and our nightcap with Shatavari Kalpa is a perfect way to conclude an unwinding day at Nirvana.

PURE, SWEET WATER

Nirvana’s water flows underground, through the mountains and comes out as a spring that serves the entire property, including sanitation and kitchen. We encourage our residents to consume the spring water which has no chlorine or fluoride or added chemicals, and the micronutrients and salts present in the groundwater, which is good for the gut, are filtered out by reverse osmosis.

FAMILY

Long term yoga students and teachers with whom our experiences and karmas intersect have become part of our family. We are committed to the journey and evolution of our family. The family that contributes and works with us, see Nirvana as a way of life, not a commercial job.
