Spring Detox
September 15, 2025Keeping Pace With Your Own Heart's Calling
It feels like time is accelerating. One moment you’re recovering from New Year’s Eve festivities, then Valentine’s day arrives, and Cupid is beckoning with heart-shaped chocolates and red roses. Blink again, and suddenly you’re dodging Easter eggs while chocolate bunnies stare you down like they know your weaknesses - and who can resist chocolate?
It feels like time is accelerating. One moment you’re recovering from New Year’s Eve festivities, then Valentine’s day arrives, and Cupid is beckoning with heart-shaped chocolates and red roses. Blink again, and suddenly you’re dodging Easter eggs while chocolate bunnies stare you down like they know your weaknesses - and who can resist chocolate?
Soon after, autumn leaves fall, and you're packing away beach towels, and considering warmer clothes to wear with your jacket and scarf whilst you’re trying to keep up as the days shorten and winter settles in.
Before you know it, here we are, spring is blooming, the daffodils and jonquils are out, and retailers are preparing for summer. The cycle continues with trick-or-treating, Christmas decorations appearing, Advent calendars, and Black Friday, leading us into the grand December finale, only to emerge in January, dazed, clutching a discounted Santa hat and wondering where the year went.
Time truly flies, and in the blink of an eye, the year for which you had such grand plans is over. Amidst this blur, it becomes clear that this rapid progression can trap you in a psychological loop that subtly diminishes your future.
We live in a loud world where everyone seems to be chasing something: followers, aesthetics, routines that look good online but feel heavy in reality, and even dreams that aren’t truly your own. It’s easy to lose focus amidst the noise, fear, and reactivity, doing things simply because they are deemed “right”.
To stay clear, grounded and resourceful enough to chart your own path and follow it through when the world seems to be losing its way, you need to break free from the exhausting patterns that pull you back, even when you know better, or when escape seems impossible.
What if you pause and ask yourself: “Do I even like this?” It takes some wisdom and maturity to live authentically, guided by your heart, rather than simply flowing with the crowd for external validation. Don’t just float because the current is strong; trends come and go. Your life doesn’t need to be “feed-worthy” or go viral to be valid. Dead fish go with the flow; you can swim where you want to, even if it means moving slower, or taking a different route. Swimming upstream makes you stronger and confirms that you like being yourself. Your joy, interests, and way of living all matter. This approach can create some incredible shifts before the year is over.
