The quest to understand the nature of consciousness and its connection to the cosmos has been central to human inquiry since time immemorial. Across civilisations, seekers of truth have pondered the origins of existence, the structure of reality, the forces governing creation, and the divine orchestration behind the universe's intricate design.
Arising from thousands of years of self-exploration, and rooted in the philosophy and lifestyle of Yoga, Vedanta, and Samkhya, the Vedic theory of consciousness presents a compelling vision of Reality. In this tradition, consciousness is not merely an emergent property of matter, but the "Greater Mental Field" that forms the foundation of existence. Known as Brahman, this pure expansion of unblemished, cosmic consciousness, is infinite, absolute, eternal and changeless - the essence of pure Being that transcends time and space, the All that exists both beyond and within name and form. Creation, both formed and formless, manifests within Brahman. Existence and non-existence exist within Brahman.

This perspective views consciousness as the ultimate source and raw material of all forms within creation and matter. At the heart of this cosmic play is Adishakti, the infinite potential and dynamic, creative life force from which all energy manifests, transforming the formless into form, the unseen into the seen. Without this energy, consciousness would remain inert and life would have no movement. She is the power of both the stillness before creation and the active, moving force that puts pure, unmoving consciousness into action. She embodies Chitshakti, the pure awareness that pervades all existence and drives the universe's unfolding through creation, maintenance, and destruction.
Exploring the landscape of consciousness with renewed curiosity and reverence invites us to examine concepts such as the trinity of existence and the intricate interplay of time, space, energy and awareness. By recognising our present, temporary states, and the influence of karma in our evolution, we can foster a deeper connection to the divine source and gain stimulating and spiritually enriching insights into ultimate Self-knowledge.
